TransamericaThere are very few films that
are made that don't feel like films. Usually you can give
kudos to the director or writers for that.
Transamerica' is a perfect film
because Felicity Huffman created a character perfectly similar
to so many real-life transgendered people.
Chances are, you
probably have no idea what being transgendered is all about.
While this film is not an educational documentary, it does, with
it's compelling story and characters, lay out the truth about
being transgendered, how it affects families and more than
anything how real honesty brings personal peace.
Damn Hollywood for
putting two covers on this DVD. The cover is two
dimensional and first features a pretty blonde Felicity Huffman
(not a character in the movie) and the second, subliminal cover
features the picture of the character (as shown in the picture
on the right). When will "Hollywood" ever be truly upright
and free and not attempt to hide things. So sad that such
a wonderful film is being "marketed" so no one gets offended.
Oh, and if this
film doesn't help you understand what being transgendered is all
about, find a PFLAG meeting
or something.
