No wonder they cancelled Wonderfalls, this show is way too good for regular television.
Surprisingly funny and very well written, Wonderfalls follow the life of Jaye Turner, a twenty-something woman who after receiving her philosophy degree from Brown University, decides to move into a trailer, live alone and work in a souvenir store at Niagara Falls.
Jaye lives a very simple life with no stress but occasionally a little bitterness pops up. Everything changes when a returned disfigured wax lion (from the souvenir store machine) starts talk to her. As the talking begins, her life and the people's lives around her also begin to change. When the lion (and the monkey at the therapist office, and the fish at the bar) starts intervening in her life, things change and she begins to find a little more direction for her life. She even feels more complete in herself helping others even when disasters happened, like running over her father on the driveway, or setting up her closeted lesbian sister with the delivery guy.
Be VERY thankful for DVDs because it allows you to see this show including many episodes that never even aired. The DVD set contains three discs with all thirteen episodes. The show is smart and funny but unfortunately too well written and produced for regular TV. This show would have done better on HBO or Showtime that but thanks to the DVD you can watch every episode and bonus material (without the interruption of annoying commercials).
